This is not justice

Please pray for a strange and concerning situation. It is in an African Nation but on purpose people are not named. There are many issues like this one in many places but this one stands out because this teacher and my friend, Miss E are trying to do something about it and it is backfiring!!!

My friend writes, “In our Sunday school we have to sister girls (one of them under the age of 10) who have been severely sexually abused by their uncle and maybe even their father, which is not clear. When our Sunday school teacher was trusted with this information by the older girl, she took them to the Doctor for check up and even had the assistance of a person from the human rights office here, they involved the police and filed the case with all documents, even the medical ones. UNBELIEVABLY and what leaves us speechless is, that both girls are still at home. The father refused to hand over his younger brother to the police. The law in this country is that if someone rapes a girl under 12, he must be sentenced for live. Only that this is rarely applied. I am determined to follow up this case and after talking to our Sunday school teacher yesterday I could convince her and she is willing to continue helping as she had given up because she really tried and put in lots of effort to bring justice to the girls unfortunately without fruition. The situation at hand is a bit complex. It needs a lot of wisdom more so GOD´S BREAKTHROUGH!”

The story gets crazier, this is now the update that I received just a few days ago, “Hey, just yesterday I talked again with our Sunday school teacher and I am finding out the story only bit by bit. Yesterday she told me, that she was even arrested while she was on the way to the hospital with the girls. Imagine this: Here she is, in the ferry crossing to go to hospital. She is a very fine lady, neatly dressed. Crossing with two little girls that wear dirty and torn clothes. People behind her see that and start murmuring that this lady must be trafficking these girls, because they obviously couldn´t be her own daughters from the look. When she got out of the ferry, she found herself suddenly surrounded by a multitude of people who were accusing her and asking where she is going with these two girls. The mob started to suggest what to do with her, from “let´s stone her to let´s take her to police”….so she was brought to the police and ended up in a cell for 1 night! After this incident, another lady from our church told her that from now on she would take her by car, whenever she needed to take the girls, others would help pay for clothes and food. Isn´t it absurd in a way that people are sensitive to the environment and it is much easier to agree with a mob (where I am much more anonymous) than to intervene if I know very well that in my neighbours’ house a kid is being abused…

I have written to IJM in the closest city to us last Thursday (as you suggested) and I hope to get a response from them very soon! I also made friends with the girls aged 6 & 8, yesterday. In the mean time, both of them have become a bit shy towards the Sunday school teacher. Obviously the father must have threatened them in a way. One of the girls said, that the dad said, if the police is asking her anything, she should not give any answers.”

PLEASE PRAY FOR THIS CASE THAT GOD WILL BRING JUSTICE TO THESE TWO LITTLE GIRLS. And that they will come to the place where HE IS GOING TO RESTORE UNTO THEM WHAT HAS BEEN STOLEN AND DESTROYED. IT IS OUR TASK, TO CLAIM ALL OF THAT BACK AS WE STAND FOR THEM IN PRAYER.
