Well, we just wrapped up five days of meetings....productive, transformational, and some good connection with me from all over the Americas. It is definitely where we want to be- less business and more acting as “elders” and “priests”. Steps taken to make YWAM even more flat then ever before. It is very good. Sometimes harder to feel like you are getting somewhere but definitely puts us into a place where prayer, worship, and drawing close to Jesus is not the “warm up” for the real business, it is the business. Great parallel to the book I am reading. The pull of the “American dream” and our comfortable, “bless me mentality: within the church and society in Canada. I am deeply reminded that Jesus did not come to this earth to make us comfortable or blessed, in and of itself but rather for the point of comforting others and being a blessing to the nations of the earth. I believe that our pursuit of low expenses and being debt free should not be for our security but for: 1) stewardship, and 2) being able to bless others; and 3) be able to obey God when and how he says to “go”. Far more exciting and risky but that is where there is life! Dependent on Jesus and being formed into his image. Do we so desperately want to see people “free” and in the context of a safe home and “family”? In the same way, we need to be “free” in everyway that the Lord shows us!
