The Desert
The LORD will guide you always;
he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
12 Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins
and will raise up the age-old foundations;
you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls,
Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.
13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
and from doing as you please on my holy day,
if you call the Sabbath a delight
and the LORD’s holy day honorable,
and if you honor it by not going your own way
and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
14 then you will find your joy in the LORD,
and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land
and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.”
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
Isa 58: 11-13

While each level of NIKO is designed to challenge the participants to overcome, there is a progression in the development that builds upon one another. NIKO is experiential learning that creates an environment that can evoke change but it is only a part of the process that we find ourselves in. The other parts make up a fuller experience of the Christian life and discipleship.
NIKO 1 helps participants to understand and experience concepts like surrender, teamwork, servanthood, and leadership. On NIKO 1, participants learn about leading a small group of people. NIKO 1 helps us to realize that “together we can overcome”.
NIKO 2 helps participants to take next steps to lead themselves. They are given opportunity to explore different “pathways to experience God” and consider making changes to their life to experience greater intimacy with the Father. How do we need to order our world so that our inner world is at peace and we cultivate an intimate love relationship with God? What disciplines will aid us in greater maturity in our walk with God? NIKO 2 helps us to discover that “through relationship with God, I can overcome”.
